DENVER, CO – The Colorado State University announced a new program to move infectious-disease research to market faster than its existing technology transfer models.

A non-profit entity called MicroRx will create “superclusters” of academic researchers, economists and business people to gauge the marketability of research in process.  Acting as a “triage”, the groups will encourage scientists with promising research to begin working with business people as early in the process as possible.

MicroRx operating revenues are expected to come from patents, licensing agreements, start up companies and partnerships that come out of university research collaboration.  The current budget for the program tops $1 million.
